ACE - Another CBP system failure caused disruption
March 28, 2017

On March 27, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) communicated that they were experiencing communication issues which impacted system processing and response messaging going to the customs brokerage and trade community. This may have resulted in your drivers experiencing some service delays. CBP indicates that their issues have now been resolved, and they have resumed regular operations.

CBP message: The ACE EDI processing issue, announced in CSMS# 17-000172 on Monday 3/27/2017, was resolved at approximately 3:15 pm Eastern. The ACE messages received during the outage were queued and are being processed now. The ABI backlog is expected to take less than an hour to process. The Import Manifest data backlog is expected to take 3 hours to process.

This CBP downtime caused a backlog of entries to be processed and drivers experienced service delays for several hours from noon until late in the evening.

We’d like to assure you that we are doing everything we can to minimize any impact CBP’s system outage may have on your business.
